Protection Program (Child Protection and Gender GBV Trauma Healing and PsychoSocial Support)
RLO believes that in order to prevent violence, communities must be strengthened. The Organization seeks to demonstrate leadership by supporting government and communities to address harmful practices that encourage GBV, early child marriage, protection on sexual exploitation and Abuse, and also to minimize prevalence of FGM among young girls and to achieve prosperity and socio-economic development for all. This requires innovative management skills and willingness to support change through:
- To campaign and create awareness against gender-based violence (GBV), design programs; organize training on how to fight gender-based violence, rehabilitation of victims of gender-based violence;
- Strengthening resource center and exchange of information and knowledge through capacity building and skills transfer on Gender Based Violence and Counseling activities
- Counseling for Trauma Healing and Psycho-Social support to those affected by Gender Based Violence practice
- Institutional development and establishing center of excellence for Social justice, human rights and gender equity Child Protection and “Protection on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse” (CP&PS). RLO believes that in order to prevent violence, communities must be strengthened.
RLO as an organization needs to demonstrate leadership by supporting government and communities to achieve prosperity and socio-economic development. It is also time for RLO to empower communities and rural institutions, with a focus on marginalized and socially marginalized groups to ensure human rights, social justice and gender equity. This requires innovative management skills and willingness to support change. The aim of the Child Protection and Protection on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse program is to demonstrate leadership and management skills needed to ensure the children, the poor and the marginalized have life chances within local institutions and communities to make the service delivery efficient and effective. This program also contributes to make South Sudan institutions as change agents and partners of choice through:
- o Strengthening resource centers and exchange of information and knowledge of referral focal persons and centers;
- o Institutional development and establishing centre of excellence for Child Protection and Protection on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse through capacity building and skills transfer to the needy;
- o Participate in Child Protection Rapid Assessment (CPRA) of child protection concerns, their social justice, human rights and gender equity
- o Identify and provide training, support and mentorship to local authorities on natural helpers on children concerns and rights.
- o Disseminate age-appropriate information and advocacy and support to child mine-survivors
- o Ensure international guidelines, relevant documents and best practices including the minimum standards for child protection in humanitarian action are considered and shared with local authorities.
- o Raise awareness of parents, community leaders and policy makers about the health and right implications of girls’ early marriage and advocate for improved girl’s access to education and retention in schools. This is a key factor in delaying early marriage
- o Conduct identification of un accompanied and separated children through registration and reception processes, awareness- raising in the community and ensure that proper verification takes place prior to family reunification
