Education and Youths, through Alternative Education Systems [AES]

RLO is committed to empowering Children and young people in the County and the Internally Displaced People (IDP) areas by supporting efforts to increase access to quality education. From early childhood Development to higher education; we work to ensure Children and young people from different backgrounds to have equal access to quality education and to promote critical thinking, respect for diverse opinions, free and open intellectual inquiry. Moreover, elementary education has been recognized as a fundamental right under the South Sudan Constitution. Keeping children in school has other significant benefits including adversely impacting possibilities of their engagement in child labor as well as delaying early marriage for girls and complete primary school and to ensure proper development of children, physically, emotionally, socially, morally and spiritually. The Organization believes that investing in children and youths by providing them with quality education and empowering them with knowledge is the most effective long-term strategy to end cyclical conflict, mistrust, poverty, ignorance, fear and neglect, and to establish peace, stability and prosperity in South Sudan.

The Organization intends to run Education in Emergencies (EiE), Early Childhood Education (ECD), Accelerated Learning Programs (ALPs) and further intends to develop learning centers for adults as a means of transition to recovery. The following are the activities that will run under Education Program: 

 Fundraise through RLO for education, NFIs and Shelter to ensure support and sustainability of quality education;

 Youth empowerment through provision of skills for development under Education in Emergencies (ECD);

 Conduct planning and consultative meetings with community leaders, local education officials, teachers, existing PTA members and local authorities for collective action on the education program

 Rehabilitates and establish new learning facilities and apace in schools. Distribute learning and teaching supplies for teachers and pupils

 Train PTA members, teachers and education officials at State, County and Payam levels

 Conduct Community awareness and advocacy campaigns on Girl Child Education

 Conduct school hygiene promotion activities in schools on water borne diseases, good sanitation practices and environmentally friendly solid and human waste disposal in schools, clubs and in community

 Ensure basic needs of IDPS are met with a particular emphasis of reaching the most vulnerable. This includes provisions of NFIs and shelter kits in addition to providing education

 Participate in coordinated need assessments to identify individuals in need of lifesaving assistance with particular emphasis on identifying the most vulnerable using transparent, fair and streamlined procedures and criteria

 Conduct planned and coordinated verification and registration of identified target beneficiaries in planned distribution with special emphasis on their age, sex and vulnerabilities to ensure distribution package is tailored to meet specific needs

 Conduct distribution of NFIs/shelter to identified target beneficiaries in planned distribution sites with emphasis on outreaching to person with specific vulnerabilities including female/child headed households and elderly persons

Our philosophy

ICP philosophy is ‘‘Self-Reliance” ICP believes in the philosophy of self-reliance hence ICP, strives to inculcate a spirit of self-reliance among communities through empowering them with relevant skills that can transform their current livelihood into prosperity through the use of available local resources as envisioned in its mission.

To achieve self-reliance and alleviation of poverty among the poor, ICP focus its efforts in promotion and development of agriculture sector through the introduction of new cost-effective technologies and innovations that can enhance farmer’s ability to expand their farm production through training farmers on use of ox plough, land preparation, post -harvest techniques, production of composite manure, pest and disease control, entrepreneurship and business skills. We also promote cooperative development which are powerful tools in fighting poverty and advancement of self-reliance society.

We promote access to finance among the poor through introduction of Village Savings and loan Associations and promotion of Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOs) so that the poor who are currently dependent on food aid from humanitarian agencies becomes self-reliant and prosperous.
